IELTS in Cyprus — the €251 fee, 12 test centres and the scores your route needs

Seven venues are run with the British Council: Journalists House and TED College in Nicosia, IMS Private School in Limassol, American Academy Larnaca, the International School of Paphos, Eastern Mediterranean Doga College in Famagusta and Final International University in Kyrenia. Five are listed as IELTS Cyprus: its Nicosia head office in Engomi, Ataner English Academy in north Nicosia, Larnaca (Aradippou), the English Learning Centre in Limassol and CP Private Institute of English in Paphos.

Every listing is IELTS on computer with One Skill Retake; no paper test is listed. The finder also lists IELTS Online for this country, an Academic test taken at home. Check that your target accepts it before you book: the University of Toronto does, but McGill's graduate programmes, UNSW and Nazarbayev University do not.

Australia's Proficient English (IELTS 7.0 each) adds 10 points and Superior (8.0 each) adds 20, achieved within three years of the visa application. Canada accepts only IELTS General Training for Express Entry, and the result must be under two years old. UK universities usually ask 6.0 to 6.5 for undergraduate and 6.5 to 7.0 for postgraduate study.

Toronto accepts IELTS Online and UKVI sittings but not One Skill Retake, and wants every score from a single test date. Melbourne gives every course an English level on its course page; Level 1 is the lowest in its table, and it accepts IELTS One Skill Retake taken within 60 days.
