What IELTS score do you need for the University of the Cumberlands?

Non-native speakers of English document their fluency with TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo. The university's TOEFL standard is 65, which it says becomes 4 on the 1–6 scale TOEFL introduced on 21 January 2026; IELTS needs 6 and Duolingo 100. The requirement is waived if you completed a bachelor's program in the US or at least nine hours of master's coursework at a regionally accredited US institution. International transcripts need an evaluation that includes a cumulative GPA and US equivalency, from WES, IERF, Educational Perspectives, ECE or another approved firm. No exemption is listed for applicants from English-speaking countries or for degrees taught in English, so Indian, Pakistani and Nigerian applicants should plan to test.

Undergraduates can use ACT 17, SAT 920, TOEFL 65 (550 paper-based), IELTS 6 or Duolingo 95, and the admission requirements page adds that English can also be shown through a virtual interview with an admissions representative. Transfers from a US institution do not need a test.
