I'd like to talk about a deep, stainless steel sauté pan that has become an absolute workhorse in my kitchen. It has got a thick base, high straight sides, and a sturdy glass lid, which basically makes it a cross between a traditional frying pan and a shallow casserole dish.

I actually acquired it about two years ago when I moved into my current flat. My mother gave it to me as a housewarming gift because she knew I loved cooking but had fairly limited cupboard space. At first, I thought it was just an ordinary pan, but it quickly became my go-to piece of cookware.

I use it for almost everything, to be honest. In the morning, I might use it to fry eggs or whip up an omelette. Then, later in the evening, because of its depth and generous capacity, it is perfect for simmering rich pasta sauces, making vegetable curries, or searing chicken breasts before braising them with stock. It even works well for quick stir-fries when I do not feel like pulling out a heavy wok.

The main reason I find it so indispensable is its incredible versatility. The heat distribution is spot on, so food rarely catches or burns at the bottom. Plus, it goes straight from the hob into the oven, which saves me from washing up multiple trays and dishes. For someone like me who balances a busy work schedule with home cooking, having one reliable pan that can handle practically any recipe is a massive time-saver.
