Art: questions and Band 8 answers
The examiner asks three to five short questions on two or three everyday topics in the first four to five minutes. These are the 12 questions about art in the BandLadder test bank, with sample answers for the most frequent ones. Aim for two or three sentences each: answer, reason, one detail.

Did you enjoy doing art lessons when you were a child?
Actually, I found them quite therapeutic back then. I remember spending hours sketching landscapes with charcoal, as I felt it was a great way to express my creativity away from the rigid structure of maths or science classes.
Do you like art?
I have always been a huge fan of contemporary art. There is something incredibly thought-provoking about how modern artists challenge societal norms through abstract installations, which often leaves me reflecting on the pieces for days afterward.
Do you ever draw or paint pictures now?
Not as often as I would like, unfortunately. My professional life keeps me quite busy, but I occasionally doodle in my notebook during long meetings just to keep my mind focused and my creative juices flowing.
Are you good at art?
To be perfectly honest, I lack the technical proficiency to be considered talented. While I have a keen eye for aesthetic detail, my actual brushwork is rather clumsy and certainly won't be winning any awards anytime soon.
Do you like drawing?
It is not really my preferred hobby, to tell the truth. I find the process a bit tedious compared to photography, which allows me to capture the beauty of a moment without needing to master complex shading techniques.
When was the last time you went to an art gallery or exhibition?
I visited a local exhibition just last month featuring emerging local painters. It was a refreshing experience to see such raw talent on display, and I even felt inspired enough to purchase a small watercolour print for my hallway.
