Our verdict
Alfa PTE is a strong pick if you are preparing for PTE only and want a large mock library in a well-rated app: 4.8 stars on Google Play from about 3,900 ratings, and Premium from US$10.99, A$17.99 or ₹699 for 10 days with no auto-renewal. The free plan is a real trial, not a full course: scores on writing run out after 3 checks. The refund window is only 30 minutes, and the website does not show prices before checkout, so compare the in-app price first.
We make BandLadder, a competing IELTS and PTE platform, so read this with that in mind. We read alfapte.com, its pricing and terms pages, and its App Store and Google Play listings on the date above. We did not buy a plan, so we do not rate its scoring accuracy. Alfa PTE is a trademark of its owner, and BandLadder is not affiliated with it. Prices and features change: check alfapte.com before you buy.
What Alfa PTE is
Alfa PTE is run by Alfa Education (Alfa Pty Ltd), which says it grew out of an Australian training school and launched the platform in 2019. It covers PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core. IELTS and LanguageCert are on separate Alfa sites.
It works on the web, iOS and Android with one account, and Alfa states it is not affiliated with Pearson. It also sells white-label software to coaching institutes.
What you get
- •AI scoring that Alfa says mirrors Pearson's scoring.
- •300+ full mocks, 516 sectional and 120 timed mocks, plus create-your-own mocks, per its homepage (its mock-test page gives different counts).
- •20,000+ practice questions, they say.
- •Weekly prediction files and prediction questions in the app.
- •Templates, strategy videos, a study plan and progress tracking.
- •No live classes mentioned on its site.

Is Alfa PTE free?
Partly. The free plan needs no card and is enough to judge the app, but scored practice runs out fast:
- ✓20,000 practice questions to attempt.
- ✓5 free AI score checks a day for Speaking, Reading and Listening.
- ✓3 free AI checks in total (not per day) for Writing and Summarize Spoken Text.
- ✓1 free full mock and 1 free sectional mock, both AI-scored.
- ✓Strategy videos and some templates; timed sectional mocks, create-your-own mocks and the study plan need Premium.
What Alfa PTE does well
- +The best-rated PTE app we checked: 4.8 on Google Play from about 3,900 ratings, 4.4 to 4.6 on the App Store.
- +A very large mock library, including create-your-own mocks.
- +Short 10-day plans and no auto-renewal.
- +Covers PTE Academic UKVI as well as Academic and Core.
- +Reviewers praise mocks that feel close to the real exam and a simple interface.
Where it falls short
- −Refunds only if you ask within 30 minutes of buying; purchased mock tests are never refunded.
- −No prices on the website before checkout.
- −Writing scores on the free plan stop after 3 checks in total.
- −PTE only in this app: IELTS needs a separate Alfa site and account flow.
- −Some Play reviewers say the speaking AI picks up words they did not say, and that free practice is too limited.
- −Mock and user counts differ between Alfa's own pages (for example 1M+ and 3M+ users).
Alfa PTE suits you if…
- →You are preparing for PTE only and mostly study in an app.
- →You want as many full and sectional mocks as possible.
- →You need PTE Academic UKVI.
Look elsewhere if…
- →You want IELTS and PTE in the same account and app.
- →You want free writing scores every day, not 3 in total.
- →You want more than 30 minutes to change your mind after paying.
- →You want to see the price on the website before you sign up.

Is Alfa PTE free or paid?+
Both. The free plan gives 20,000 practice questions, 5 AI checks a day for speaking, reading and listening, 3 writing checks in total, and 1 free full and 1 free sectional mock. Premium unlocks unlimited scoring, timed and create-your-own mocks and the study plan.
How much is Alfa PTE Premium?+
On the App Store (checked 27 October 2026): US$10.99, $15.99, $23.99 and $31.99 for 10, 30, 60 and 90 days in the US; A$17.99 to A$49.99 in Australia; ₹699 to ₹2,299 in India. The website shows the price at checkout.
Does Alfa PTE give refunds?+
Only if you email them strictly within 30 minutes of purchase, per its refund page. Purchased or code-unlocked mock tests are not refunded.
Is Alfa PTE scoring accurate?+
Alfa says its AI mirrors Pearson's scoring. We found no independent check of that, and we did not buy a plan to test it. Treat any practice score as an estimate.
Alfa PTE or Gurully: which is better?+
Alfa has the better-rated app and more mocks, they say; Gurully is cheaper on the web in India but has a zero-refund policy and app prices about twice its web prices. See our Gurully review for details.
Is Alfa PTE better than BandLadder?+
For PTE-only practice volume in a highly rated app, Alfa is strong. BandLadder suits you if you want IELTS and PTE in one account, free daily writing scores that do not run out, and Solve Along and the PTE 90 coach to learn from each answer.
