What IELTS score do you need for Eastern Michigan University?

Graduate applicants need TOEFL 85, TOEFL Essentials 9.5, IELTS 6.5 (the IELTS Indicator is accepted), PTE 70, Michigan English Test 60 or Duolingo 115. The Graduate School accepts TOEFL MyBest scores, though individual programs may not, and programs can set a higher bar. See EMU graduate application.

If your score falls just below the minimum and you are academically admissible, you may be offered the Graduate Studies ESL Pathway; if it is too low, you can join EMU's Intensive English Program. EMU states that it does not offer conditional admission, and the catalog says F-1 and J-1 students are not eligible for it.

Students who completed their education in listed countries are eligible for an English test waiver, decided at the time of review. The graduate list includes India, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Singapore and Uganda as well as the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada (except Quebec). Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are not listed. Individual programs can still ask you to verify your English.

The undergraduate list is similar but does not include India, so Indian freshmen need a test or an SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 480 or ACT English 19 score. See EMU undergraduate application.
