Holland College English test minimums
Scores are from Holland College's language requirements page, which sets one standard for all programs. Other options are Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at 176 with no band below 169, CAEL 60 with 50 in each band, Oxford ELLT Digital or Global level 7 with no level below 6, APTIS overall C, Quest 75, and Holland College's own English Proficiency Test at 4.5 in each section. TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.
Holland College says English results must be current but does not state a fixed validity period, and a position on IELTS One Skill Retake is not stated.

Exemptions, pathways and on-campus testing
Instead of a test, you can show three consecutive years of full-time post-secondary study where English was the language of instruction and examination (as recognised by Holland College), completed within two years of your program start; EAL time does not count. The automatic waiver is only for graduates of a Canadian high school with English 621 (or equivalent) at 70%.
Pathway completions also count: CLLC Level 7 University Pathway, ILAC Pathway 3.3 with 75% coursework, Study Abroad Canada Language Institute Level 8, and CLB 8 in Holland College's own EAP or LINC programs. Holland College runs an IELTS test centre and its English Proficiency Test on campus.

Take a free scored IELTS mock →Study permit and PGWP: separate rules
Holland College's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree or from any other university program, and CLB 5 for any other college, polytechnic or non-university program, so a bachelor's degree earned at a college still needs CLB 7. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in every skill and CLB 5 is Reading 4.0 and Writing, Listening and Speaking 5.0 (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic, and college programs also face a field-of-study rule if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024 (see IELTS for the PGWP).
