Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Vancouver?

Pearson's test centre finder lists Pearson Professional Centres in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey, with a partner venue in Abbotsford and a Pearson Professional Centre in Victoria. Burnaby is on GOV.UK's list of approved centres outside the UK for PTE Academic UKVI.

Pearson's finder does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. When you book, choose the test first and then the city; only centres with slots for that test appear.

IELTS fees are the ones each centre shows on its ielts.org page on 10 October 2026; ielts.org says prices can change and may be subject to local tax, and fees differ between centres and provinces. IDP's own session listings for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton also showed many IDP sessions at a second price CAD 10 higher, so confirm the total at checkout. PTE prices are from Pearson's price finder with Canada selected. Refund and transfer rules are in our IELTS fee in Canada and PTE fee in Canada guides.

IRCC also accepts CELPIP-General for Express Entry (IRCC); see CELPIP's own site for its Vancouver dates. Surrey has several IDP and British Council IELTS venues on ielts.org, and North Vancouver and Coquitlam have British Council venues. See our Calgary and Edmonton guides.

Which test for permanent residence: IRCC's Express Entry language test page accepts CELPIP (the CELPIP-General test), IELTS (the General Training option only) and PTE Core in English, and TEF Canada or TCF Canada in French. IRCC says it does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake for Express Entry, and your results must be less than 2 years old both when you complete your profile and when you apply for permanent residence.

IELTS: book with IDP IELTS Canada or the British Council; both appear on the ielts.org finder, and IDP's Vancouver page lists its own dates. ielts.org asks you to bring the same identification document you used when you booked; you cannot sit the test with the wrong ID (test day).

PTE Core: Pearson's PTE Core page says it is accepted for all economic immigration programmes that need an IRCC-approved English test, for citizenship and for post-graduate work permits; to study, take PTE Academic instead. Pearson's ID policy accepts a passport or, in Canada only, a Canadian Permanent Resident Card for PTE Core. Book at least 24 hours ahead (Pearson's booking guide).

Results: ielts.org says IELTS on computer results usually come in 1–2 days and Life Skills within 9 days (results); Pearson says most PTE Core results arrive within two business days, sometimes up to five. Before you pay, try a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test.
