IELTS test cities in Bangladesh by provider
City lists come from IDP's Bangladesh test centre finder and fees and locations page, and the British Council's dates, fees and locations page. We do not list addresses because venues move; use the providers' own finders, or the ielts.org test centre finder, to see the exact venue before you book.

How to choose a centre
Fees are the same at every centre for the main test (BDT 31,100), so choose on date, distance and format. Dhaka has by far the most sessions: IDP's Dhaka page alone showed 1,871 upcoming sessions on 9 October 2026, with morning and afternoon slots most days (IDP Dhaka).
If you need IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills for a UK visa, check the city first: those sessions run in fewer places, mainly Dhaka and Sylhet. If you might need a One Skill Retake later, book a centre that offers it; IDP's Dhaka sessions are marked as One Skill Retake available, and the British Council offers it on computer tests. Leave a spare day if you travel to Dhaka from outside the city, because the Listening, Reading and Writing parts start in the morning.

Where can I take IELTS for UKVI in Bangladesh?+
In Dhaka and Sylhet. IDP lists UKVI sessions at its Dhanmondi office and a UKVI venue in Sylhet; the British Council listed UKVI sessions in Sylhet.
Is paper-based IELTS available in Bangladesh?+
Not for the standard test or UKVI. IDP offers IELTS on computer with Writing on paper in Dhaka at the same fee.
Is IELTS cheaper at some centres in Bangladesh?+
No. Both providers charged BDT 31,100 for IELTS on computer at every centre we checked on 9 October 2026.
