What IELTS score do you need for NJIT?

TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or PTE is required of all graduate applicants whose first language is not English. The minimums are TOEFL iBT 4.0 overall on the new scale or 79 on the old, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 120 and PTE 57. The graduate catalog adds that the IELTS minimum is 6.5 with no sub-score lower than 6.0, and that applicants seeking NJIT financial support need TOEFL 79; prospective teaching assistants are tested for spoken English after admission. You are exempt if your undergraduate degree was completed at a US university, or with a degree from an institution in a listed country, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Africa and the UK. First-year and transfer applicants whose first language is not English need TOEFL iBT 4.0 (79 old scale), IELTS 6.0, Duolingo 100 or PTE 53. The same exempt-country list applies.
