What IELTS score do you need for Stevens Institute of Technology?

To be considered for a Stevens graduate program you need at least TOEFL iBT 4, IELTS 6 or Duolingo 110. Level 1 scores need no ELC courses. Level 2 applicants either take an ELC course in their first semester or pass the Stevens English Communication Proficiency Exam (ECPE) on arrival; to sit the ECPE you need TOEFL Speaking and Writing 4.5 or IELTS Speaking and Writing 6.5. Level 3 applicants must take ELC 071 or ELC 081. Students in ELC courses can take at most 12 credits in their first term, and updated scores are not accepted after admission.

TOEFL and IELTS must be dated within two years of when Graduate Admissions processes your application; Duolingo results are sent through your DET account. Stevens lists TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo; PTE is not mentioned for graduate admission. See the ELP policy.

You are exempt with a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited US institution, two years of full-time US graduate study, or a bachelor's from the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. A bachelor's or master's from an institution outside the US that teaches in English also lets you skip the test, but you must upload an official letter confirming English instruction and take the ECPE on arrival. First-year international applicants whose first language is not English need TOEFL 80 (old) or 4 (new), IELTS 6.0, Duolingo 105 or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 550; waivers are case by case after three years of US study.
