What IELTS score do you need for St. John's University?

Direct admission puts you straight into your degree. ELITE (English Language Immersion Toward Excellence) lets you study full time in your degree with credit-bearing ESL courses alongside. Conditional admission, open to academically admissible students who have not shown enough English or do not plan to test, starts with the full-time, non-credit English Language Institute (ELI). Cambridge 176, SAT Verbal/ERW 400/440 or ACT English 15 also qualify for direct admission. Applicants who have not attended a postsecondary institution where English is the language of instruction, or are not from a listed country, must submit TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE or Cambridge scores. The list includes the UK, Ireland, Canada (except Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. India and Pakistan are not on it, so if you are counting on an English-medium degree, confirm with the Office of International Graduate Admission; it can still ask for more documentation. The Tobin College of Business requires TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo from applicants without a degree from a regionally accredited institution taught in English, keeps the right to ask any applicant for a score, and accepts scores for two years (TOEFL code 2799); some admitted students are placed in English courses. The LL.M. asks for IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or 4, Duolingo 115 or Cambridge 176, dated within two years.
