What IELTS score do you need for the University at Albany?

UAlbany requires the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic or the Duolingo English Test, and your application is not complete, so cannot be evaluated, until the scores arrive. Only official scores sent by the testing institution count (TOEFL code 2532), and some departments require higher scores. If you have not taken a test or fall short, some graduate programs offer conditional admission with the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) when all other standards are met; ask Graduate Recruitment whether your program takes part.

You can waive the requirement with transcripts showing at least four full-time semesters, within four years of applying, with at least a B average at a college in the US "or a country from an approved list". UAlbany does not print that list on the page and does not name India, and waivers are evaluated case by case. Indian applicants must send individual mark sheets for every exam attempt. First-year applicants who attended high school outside the US and are not native English speakers submit TOEFL iBT 70 (4 on the new scale), IELTS 6.0, PTE 50, Duolingo 95, SAT ERWS 400 with a 22 Reading subscore, ACT English and Reading 19, Cambridge English B2 or IB Higher Level English A 4.
