What IELTS score do you need for the University of West Florida?

UWF accepts TOEFL 79 (before 21 January 2026) or 4.5 (on or after), IELTS 6.0, CEFR B2, Duolingo 110, PTE 53, Cambridge English 175, an Oxford Online Placement Test result of B2, or completion of UWF's Intensive English Program with a recommendation from an IEP administrator. Applicants who meet every requirement except English may be offered conditional admission, but must first enrol in the Intensive English Program, then meet the English requirement before starting a degree.

The graduate catalog says the English requirement can be met by coming from a country where English is the official language, by a degree from a US-accredited institution, or by a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree earned in a country where English is the official language or at a university where English is the official language of instruction. Read literally, that covers an English-medium bachelor's from India or Pakistan.

The Graduate Admissions international page is stricter: it asks for a test if your native language is not English, your country's primary language is not English, or you do not hold a US bachelor's degree. Because the two pages differ, ask Graduate Admissions to confirm in writing before relying on an English-medium degree.

Freshmen and transfers with fewer than 60 credits meet the English requirement through the SAT or ACT scores required for admission. Transfers with 60 or more credits use the same test table as graduate applicants (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 79, Duolingo 110, PTE 53), a C or better in English Composition at a US college, qualifying reading and English scores on tests such as the SAT (490) or ACT (19), or the Intensive English Program.
