What IELTS score do you need for Cal Poly Pomona?

Graduate applicants need TOEFL 80 (old scale) or 4.5 (new scale), IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 105. MA English applicants need TOEFL 100 or 5, IELTS 7.0 or Duolingo 120; Urban and Regional Planning applicants need TOEFL 92–93 or 4.5, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 115. See Cal Poly Pomona graduate admission.

Students without a 4-year degree fill in a degree equivalency questionnaire, and International Admissions decides whether the 3-year bachelor's matches a US 4-year degree. A WES or other NACES evaluation is not required but is strongly suggested and can speed up the review.

Graduate applicants can be waived with a bachelor's degree from, or at least three years of full-time study at, an institution where English is the principal language of instruction, or after passing level six of the Cal Poly English Language Institute. The page lists countries where English is the national language: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Botswana, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada (except Quebec), the US and several Caribbean countries. India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are not on it.
