What IELTS score do you need for Canadian Mennonite University?

CMU's country requirements say Indian and Pakistani applicants need a test at both undergraduate and graduate level. Academically, CMU looks for 53/100 (or 7/10, second class) in Indian Class 12 and a 60/100 bachelor's for graduate study, and 50% in Pakistan's HSC with a 69% bachelor's for graduate study.

Nigerian undergraduates need a test only if their WAEC English grade is below B3 or they finished high school more than three years ago. Nigerian graduate applicants may be exempt if they earned an English-taught degree from a recognised university in the last five years.

CMU also accepts the University of Manitoba's AEPUCE and the University of Winnipeg's English Language Program at Academic Level 5, and asks undergraduates for an advance deposit of one semester's tuition, meals, lodging and health insurance.

CMU's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from any other university program, which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
