Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Cairo?

Pearson's test centre finder listed five PTE centres in Greater Cairo on 10 October 2026, all partner venues: four test rooms at Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST Test Centres 1 to 4), which Pearson files under Giza, and UH-GAF, filed under Cairo. Egypt's only other PTE centre is in Alexandria. None is a Pearson-run Professional Center.

Pearson's finder does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. When you book, choose PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core first and then your city; only centres with slots for that test appear.

IELTS for UKVI costs EGP 11,500 at both providers. In Cairo the British Council listed it on 10 Saturdays at Agouza, and IDP on 12 days at Certifika New Cairo and 5 each at Sheikh Zayed and Heliopolis, between 11 October and 31 December 2026. Book it only if your UK visa or course asks for it (IELTS for UKVI vs Academic).

IDP listed IELTS for UKVI Life Skills A1 and B1 at its Heliopolis Life Skills room on 3 days, from 29 October, at EGP 6,900 (IELTS Life Skills guide).

IELTS costs the same at both providers except Writing on Paper, which costs EGP 1,020 more at IDP. Pearson charges in Egyptian pounds, and PTE Academic is EGP 1,600 cheaper than IELTS on computer.

Alexandria has both IELTS providers, IELTS for UKVI (the British Council listed it at New El Quds International School) and Egypt's only PTE centre outside Greater Cairo, Global Education Foundation. The British Council also tests in Mansoura and Minya, and IDP in Mansoura and Tanta. See the Egypt test centre list for every city.

IELTS: book online with the British Council or IDP, choose Cairo and pick a session; the venue address comes in your confirmation. The British Council accepts a passport, or a national ID card for Egyptian nationals; you upload a copy before test day and must bring the same document. Under-18s need written consent from a parent or guardian.

PTE: create a myPTE account with details that exactly match your ID, choose the test, then Cairo, a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport. Its exceptions list lets Egyptian citizens testing in Egypt use the national ID card only if they are aged 16 to 18 and have no valid passport.

Results: the British Council's booking system says 1 to 5 days for IELTS on computer, and Pearson sends PTE scores typically within 48 hours (PTE scoring). Before you pay, take a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test to check you are ready.
