IELTS test cities in Thailand by provider

City lists come from IDP's Thailand test centre finder and the British Council's dates, fees and locations page. Many IDP venues are partner language schools. We do not list addresses because venues move; check the exact venue in the provider's finder, or the ielts.org test centre finder, before you book.

How to choose a centre

Fees are the same everywhere (THB 8,860), so choose on date, distance and test type. Bangkok has the most sessions at both providers; IDP says its Bangkok venues sit near BTS and MRT stations (IDP Bangkok). If you live in the far south, IDP's Hat Yai and Chumphon venues are the only options outside Phuket. Every IDP venue we saw was marked One Skill Retake available.

For IELTS for UKVI, the British Council tests in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and Phuket (British Council UKVI), and some of its centres run UKVI Life Skills by video call at the test centre. IDP's Bangkok listings showed UKVI sessions at its Silom office. Check the booking system for the current UKVI venues before you plan travel.

ID and booking

IDP and the British Council both require a Thai national ID card or, for foreign nationals, a passport, and it must be the same document you booked with. IDP asks anyone without either document to contact the centre at least two weeks before registering. Fees, payment methods and refund rules are in our IELTS exam fee in Thailand guide.
