PTE fees in Romania by test
Figures are copied from the feed behind Pearson's test centers and fees finder for Romania. Pearson prices PTE in Romania in US dollars, not the local currency. Your card issuer converts USD 260 at its own rate, so what you pay in local money depends on the day you pay. PTE Academic Online is listed at the same price.
| Test | Fee | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| PTE Academic | USD 260 | University admission, Australian and New Zealand visas |
| PTE Academic UKVI | USD 260 | UK visas that need a Secure English Language Test |
| PTE Core | USD 260 | Canadian (IRCC) permanent residence and citizenship |
| PTE Home A1, A2 or B1 | USD 220 each | UK family, extension and settlement routes |
PTE or IELTS in Romania
IELTS costs RON 1,225 with the British Council and EUR 235 with IDP; IELTS for UKVI is RON 1,340 (IELTS fee in Romania). Which is cheaper depends on exchange rates, but IDP's EUR 235 IELTS is usually the one to beat. Outside Bucharest, IELTS is also far easier to reach: there is no PTE centre in Cluj-Napoca, Iași or Timișoara.

Reschedule, cancellation and refund rules
Pearson applies the same rules in Romania as everywhere else (cancellation and rescheduling policy and refund policy). You can reschedule free while more than 14 full calendar days remain, up to six times per booking. Inside 14 days the Reschedule button disappears, so you must cancel and book again: between 14 and 7 full days you get 50% back, and closer than that nothing.
For illness or a family emergency, Pearson may allow a free reschedule if you send the Request Emergency Reschedule form with evidence no later than 72 hours after your appointment; acceptance is at its discretion.
| Time left before the test | Reschedule | Refund if you cancel |
|---|---|---|
| More than 14 full calendar days | Free, up to 6 times per booking | 100% |
| 14 to 7 full days | Not possible: cancel and book again | 50% |
| Less than 7 days | Not possible: cancel and book again | None |
How to book and pay
To book, create a myPTE account, choose the test, pick a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead, and pay (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson takes credit and debit cards plus Google Pay and Apple Pay, does not accept PayPal, and needs full payment in the currency shown (payment policy). You can sit PTE up to 12 times in any 12 months (retake policy).
PTE Academic is for universities and Australian or New Zealand visas, PTE Academic UKVI for UK visas that need a Secure English Language Test, and PTE Core for Canadian permanent residence. In myPTE you pick the test first, and only centres and slots for that test appear. Take a free PTE mock test first.
