Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Kathmandu?

Pearson's test centre list named 11 PTE centres in Nepal on 10 October 2026, five of them in Kathmandu and one more, Kathmandu College of Management, which Pearson places in Lalitpur. That gives the valley six PTE centres, more than the rest of Nepal combined.

Pearson's list does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. In myPTE, choose PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core first and then the city; only centres with open slots for that test appear.

Fees are national, so Kathmandu costs the same as anywhere else in Nepal. IELTS figures are from IDP's Nepal fees page and the British Council's booking page, and match the prices on IDP's session lists on 10 October 2026; PTE figures are from Pearson's price finder with Nepal selected. IDP also lists Banepa as a Nepali test city, but its Banepa page showed no sessions on 10 October 2026. The nearest cities with open IELTS dates from both providers are Chitwan and Pokhara, where IDP also runs IELTS for UKVI. For PTE, Chitwan and Pokhara have one and two centres. IELTS with IDP: pick a Kathmandu session on IDP's city page and book online; IDP asks you to upload a scan of your passport or ID. IDP's session lists say computer results arrive in 1 to 5 days. IELTS with the British Council: register online with a valid passport and bring the same passport on test day (British Council booking page). It takes eSewa, a transfer to its Standard Chartered or Nabil Bank account, or a deposit at those banks' counters; you then email the receipt, passport copy and IELTS reference number to confirm. It says computer results typically come in 1 to 3 days.

PTE: book in your myPTE account on pearsonpte.com. Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport for every PTE test (a physical passport, not a copy), and the name, date of birth, citizenship and gender you book with must match it exactly, or you lose the fee. Pearson says results usually arrive within two days.

Every attempt costs the full fee, so try a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test first, and use the PTE to IELTS converter if your university states its requirement in the other test.
