Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Kolkata?

Pearson's test centre finder listed one PTE centre in Kolkata on 9 October 2026: Global Reach Education Services Pvt. Ltd., a partner venue. Pearson listed no PTE centre in Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand or the North-East, so this is the only one in the east of the country.

Pearson's finder does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. When you book, choose PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core first and then your city; only centres with slots for that test appear.

Both providers charge one national price, so Kolkata costs the same as every other Indian city. The amounts below were read on 9 October 2026 on IDP India's fee page and Pearson's price finder with India selected. Some IDP city pages still quote INR 18,000 in their overview text; the fee page lists INR 19,000. For refund and transfer rules, see our IELTS fee in India and PTE fee in India guides.

IDP's directory also lists Siliguri in West Bengal, and Patna, Ranchi and Guwahati in neighbouring states, but its only other UKVI-approved lab in the east is Bhubaneswar – Kharvela Nagar. If the Kolkata PTE centre has no slot you can use, the next PTE centres on Pearson's list are in other regions, such as Lucknow and Hyderabad. See our Lucknow, Hyderabad and Delhi guides.

IELTS: book online on IDP India's site, in person at an IDP branch or registration partner, or by courier (how to register). Pick the test first, then the module and the test city, and choose a Kolkata venue from the list. IDP asks for a copy of your passport (first and last pages, plus any observation pages) and you must bring the original passport on test day.

PTE: book on pearsonpte.com or through an authorised PTE partner. Choose the test, enter Kolkata, pick a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport for all PTE tests, and your booking name must match it exactly.

Results: IDP's results page says IELTS on Computer results are typically available within 1–2 days of the test and paper results 7 days after it; IDP gives seven days for Life Skills. Pearson says PTE results typically arrive within two days. Before you pay, try a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test to check you are ready.
