Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Sylhet?

Pearson's test centre list for Bangladesh named three centres in Dhaka and one in Chattogram on 10 October 2026, and none in Sylhet. Our PTE test centres in Bangladesh guide notes that Pearson's seat search showed a Sylhet venue on 9 October, so search for Sylhet in myPTE before you plan a trip to Dhaka.

Pearson's list does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. In myPTE, choose PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core first and then the city; only centres with open slots for that test appear.

Fees are national, so Sylhet costs the same as anywhere else in Bangladesh. IDP and the British Council also list Moulvibazar as a test city, closer for candidates in the south of the division. For PTE, the listed centres are in Dhaka and Chattogram.

IELTS with IDP: book a Sylhet session online, upload a clear colour passport scan under 1.5 MB, and pay by Visa or Mastercard or in cash at an IDP office within two days, or the booking goes on hold (IDP Bangladesh). IDP emails venue and time details 5 to 7 days before the test, and its session lists say computer results arrive in 1 to 5 days.

IELTS with the British Council: register with a passport or a smart national ID card with a chip, except for UKVI, which needs a passport; pay online by card, DBBL Nexus, bKash or Rocket, at Standard Chartered Service 1 branches, or at a British Council IELTS registration centre (booking page). It offers 0% instalments over three months through participating banks and says computer results typically come in 24 hours.

PTE: book in your myPTE account on pearsonpte.com. Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport for every PTE test (a physical passport, not a copy), and the name, date of birth, citizenship and gender you book with must match it exactly, or you lose the fee. Pearson says results usually arrive within two days.
