PTE is not offered in the Maldives
Pearson's test centers and fees price finder lists the countries where you can book PTE, and a lookup for the Maldives returned nothing on 14 October 2026. To take PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core you must book a centre abroad and pay that country's fee in myPTE.
Pearson prefers a valid passport, and outside your country of citizenship a passport is the only ID it accepts (ID policy). The name, date of birth and citizenship in myPTE must match it exactly. Outside the Maldives that means your passport.
Nearest PTE options and their fees
Sri Lanka is the closest. Pearson lists three centres there, two in Colombo and one in Kandy, and its fees are in US dollars. India has many more centres, priced in rupees. The fee is set by the country you test in, not by your nationality.
| Country | PTE Academic, UKVI and Core | PTE Home A1, A2, B1 |
|---|---|---|
| Sri Lanka (Colombo, Kandy) | USD 230 | USD 195 |
| India (many cities) | INR 18,900 | INR 15,300 |

Should you take IELTS instead?
If your university or visa accepts IELTS, sitting it in Malé avoids a flight: the British Council charges MVR 4,530 (UKVI MVR 4,930). If you need PTE specifically, combine the trip with other plans and book early, since rescheduling is free only while more than 14 days remain.
Pearson's rules are the same everywhere (cancellation and rescheduling policy, last updated 17 September 2026, and refund policy). You can reschedule free while more than 14 full calendar days remain. Inside 14 days the Reschedule button disappears, so you must cancel and book again. A cancellation more than 14 days out refunds 100%, between 14 and more than 7 days 50%, and at 7 days or fewer nothing.
Details for Sri Lanka are in PTE exam fee in Sri Lanka. Whichever test you choose, take a free PTE mock test before you pay for travel.
