Where can you take IELTS and PTE in Jammu?

IDP lists Jammu among its student placement branches, and you can register in person at an IDP branch. But Jammu was not among the test cities in IDP's booking form on 9 October 2026, and its city page showed no dates. The nearest permanent lab is Amritsar, which had IELTS on computer, Writing on Paper and UKVI sessions on 54 dates to the end of 2026 and which IDP marks as accessible.

The next options are Jalandhar (a lab with UKVI and Life Skills) and Hoshiarpur, where the booking form offered IELTS on computer sessions on 43 dates. If you need IELTS for UKVI, book Amritsar or Jalandhar, which are on IDP's UKVI-approved list.

HCL Tech - Jammu is a partner venue and the only PTE centre in Jammu and Kashmir. Because PTE is a single two-hour sitting with results usually within two business days, it can be the easier test to take locally. If slots are full, the nearest alternatives are Pearson's own two centres in Amritsar and three centres in Jalandhar.

There is no local price: IDP and Pearson each charge one fee across India, so Jammu costs the same as Delhi or Kerala. IELTS figures are from IDP India's fee page and match the prices IDP's booking form showed for Jammu-area sessions on 9 October 2026; PTE figures are from Pearson's price finder. Refund and transfer rules are in our IELTS fee in India and PTE fee in India guides.

IELTS: on IDP India's site choose Register for IELTS, then the test (IELTS on Computer, IELTS Writing on Paper, IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills), the module, and Amritsar (or Jalandhar) as the test city; the dates and session times shown there are the live ones (how to register). You can also register in person at an IDP branch or registration partner. Upload a clear colour scan of your passport when you book and bring the original on test day. Speaking can fall on a different day, up to 7 days before or after the written test.

PTE: on pearsonpte.com choose the test first (Academic, Academic UKVI, Core or Home), then type Jammu or the nearest centre city; only centres with slots for that test appear, and slots open at least 24 hours ahead (Pearson's booking guide). Enter your name exactly as on your passport, middle names in Given names; details can be corrected up to 3 days before the test, and a mismatch on the day means no test and no refund.

Results: IDP says most IELTS on computer results arrive within 2 days, Writing on Paper results after 7 calendar days, and Life Skills results within seven days. Pearson says most PTE Academic results arrive within two business days, occasionally up to five.
