Where can I take IELTS in Sweden?

On 14 October 2026 IELTS was offered in three Swedish cities: Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, all at Folkuniversitetet, the British Council's partner, for SEK 4,100. IDP has no Swedish centre. IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills are offered only in Stockholm. Every test is on computer, with results in 1 to 5 days.

The ielts.org finder and the British Council's Sweden page list the same three Folkuniversitetet centres. Addresses are left out on purpose.

IELTS test dates in Sweden

Stockholm runs multiple dates every month (Folkuniversitetet Stockholm). Gothenburg publishes its calendar a year ahead: two dates each in October and November 2026, three in December and five in January 2027 (Göteborg dates). Malmö listed 23 dates from 16 October 2026 to 30 April 2027, usually on a Friday and Saturday pair (Malmö dates).

Folkuniversitetet also mentions Lund under its Malmö office, but the dates it listed were all in Malmö.

UKVI, ID and choosing a centre

IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills run only in Stockholm, where only a passport or a police-issued Swedish ID card is accepted. For the standard test an EU national ID card valid for travel also works. Skatteverket ID cards, driving licences and residence permits are refused everywhere. Transfers between the three centres are not possible, so pick the right city before you pay.

No. Folkuniversitetet says transfers between test centres are not possible.
