PTE or IELTS: the price gap in Italy

IELTS on computer costs EUR 290 almost everywhere, IELTS for UKVI EUR 312 and Life Skills EUR 202 (IELTS fee in Italy). So PTE Academic saves EUR 15 and PTE Academic UKVI EUR 37 on a UK visa test, while for UK family routes IELTS Life Skills is EUR 28 cheaper than PTE Home.

The trade-off is reach. IELTS runs in more than 30 Italian cities and PTE in three, so students in Turin, Bologna, Florence or Sicily should add the trip (PTE test centres in Italy). Compare the formats in IELTS or PTE: which is easier?.

Reschedule, cancellation and refund rules

Pearson applies the same rules in Italy as everywhere else (cancellation and rescheduling policy and refund policy). You can reschedule free while more than 14 full calendar days remain. Inside 14 days you must cancel and book again: between 14 and 7 full days you get 50% back, and with 7 days or fewer nothing.

For illness or a family emergency, Pearson may allow a free reschedule if you send the emergency request with evidence no later than 72 hours after your appointment; acceptance is at its discretion.

How to book and pay

To book, create a myPTE account, choose the test, pick a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead, and pay (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson takes credit and debit cards plus Google Pay and Apple Pay, does not accept PayPal, and needs full payment in the currency shown (payment policy). You can sit PTE up to 12 times in any 12 months (retake policy). Unlike the British Council for IELTS, Pearson does not take PayPal or Klarna.

Pearson says a genuine reseller never promises a score and that it cannot recover money paid to third parties outside official channels (booking safely). Book on pearsonpte.com with your own email address and card. Confirm what your university accepts, for example Politecnico di Torino or the University of Bologna, and try a free PTE mock test first.
