IELTS for Srinagar candidates: Amritsar
Srinagar does not appear in IDP India's city directory or in its online booking form. Jammu is in the directory, but it was not a test city in the booking form on 13 October 2026, so there is no IELTS test city in Jammu and Kashmir.
The nearest IDP lab is in Amritsar, an accessible lab on IDP's UKVI-approved list with One Skill Retake, which offered computer and Writing on Paper on 52 dates each to the end of 2026. Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar come next.

PTE for Srinagar candidates
Pearson's test centre finder lists one centre in Jammu and Kashmir: HCL Tech - Jammu, filed under Trikuta Nagar rather than Jammu, so search for that name if Jammu shows nothing. The next nearest are the two Pearson Professional Centers in Amritsar.

Practical points for Srinagar test takers
If you can choose between the tests, PTE needs the shorter trip, to Jammu. Amritsar is the one city with both an IDP lab (with UKVI) and PTE centres, so it suits candidates who want to compare dates for both in one place.
IELTS and PTE fees for Srinagar candidates
Fees do not change by city. IDP charges one national price for IELTS (IDP India fee page) and Pearson sets one price for PTE in India (test centers and fees), so a test taken by a Srinagar candidate costs exactly what it costs in Delhi or Mumbai. Travelling to another city never makes the test cheaper; it only changes the dates and formats on offer. Figures read on 13 October 2026; see the IELTS fee in India and PTE fee in India guides for refund and transfer rules.
| Test | Fee in India (every city) |
|---|---|
| IELTS on computer (Academic or General Training) | INR 19,000 |
| IELTS Writing on Paper (Academic or General Training) | INR 19,000 |
| IELTS for UKVI | INR 19,250 |
| IELTS Life Skills (A1 or B1) | INR 18,000 |
| IELTS One Skill Retake | INR 12,650 |
| PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core | INR 18,900 |
| PTE Home (A1, A2 or B1) | INR 15,300 |
How to book from Srinagar, ID rules and results
IELTS: book online with IDP India, in person at an IDP branch or registration partner, or by courier (how to register). In the online form choose the test (IELTS on Computer, IELTS Writing on Paper, Computer-delivered IELTS for UKVI or Life Skills), then the module, then the test city. You need your passport to register, and you must carry the original passport on test day.
PTE: on pearsonpte.com choose the exact test first (PTE Academic, Academic UKVI or Core), then the city, centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead (booking guide). Pearson's identification policy asks for a valid passport, and the name on your booking must match it exactly.
Results: IDP says IELTS on computer results arrive 1 to 2 days after the test (IDP FAQ), Writing on Paper results after 7 calendar days (IDP) and Life Skills results within seven days (IDP). Pearson says most PTE Academic results arrive within two business days, occasionally up to five (PTE Academic). Each attempt costs close to INR 19,000, so check your level first with a free IELTS mock test or free PTE mock test.
