What are the IELTS Writing Task 2 topics for November 2026?+
Task 2 themes recur rather than rotate on a schedule. This page lists the 39 Task 2 questions in BandLadder's bank for the September–December 2026 season, grouped by topic, for Academic and General Training.
Are these the actual exam questions?+
No. They are practice questions of the kind candidates report. A memorised essay that does not answer the exact question scores below 5 on task response, so practise planning and writing to new prompts.
Is Task 2 the same for Academic and General Training?+
The task is the same type of essay in both: 250 words in about 40 minutes, worth twice as much as Task 1. General Training topics tend to be more everyday; both modules are marked on the same four criteria.
How long should I spend on Task 2?+
About 40 minutes: 5 to plan, 30 to write and 5 to check. Task 2 carries twice the weight of Task 1, so do not let Task 1 run over.
