Where to take PTE in China and what it costs
Pearson lists 35 test centres across China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen, and a fee of CNY 2,252 for PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core (checked 30 September 2026). Australia's thresholds are per skill for tests from 7 August 2025: Competent 47 listening, 48 reading, 51 writing, 54 speaking; Proficient 58 / 59 / 69 / 76 for 10 points; Superior 69 / 70 / 85 / 88 for 20. Canada does not accept PTE Academic for Express Entry: PTE Core CLB 7 is listening 60, reading 60, writing 69, speaking 68. UK visas need 59 in each skill for B2.
PTE or IELTS from China?
IELTS is RMB 262 cheaper (RMB 1,990 against CNY 2,252) and runs in 43 cities; PTE runs in 35 centres and is scored by software. For the UK and Australia both give identical outcomes; for Canada's Express Entry you need IELTS General Training or PTE Core. Choose by a scored mock of each.
