Countries with at least five readable undergraduate minimums in our data. Courses such as nursing, law, medicine and teaching ask more than the university minimum everywhere.
How we counted: each figure comes from our own guide to that university, which restates its admissions pages (read 4 to 10 October 2026). We took the lowest undergraduate IELTS overall each guide's tables give; where a table could not be read cleanly the university is left out of the count rather than guessed. The full list, with a CSV, is on our IELTS university requirements data. A course page can ask for more than the university minimum, so check yours before you book.

Your 12th English mark may replace IELTS
Many UK universities accept an Indian Class 12 English mark, usually 60% to 75%, instead of a test: see UK universities that take Class 12 English. Some US universities accept CBSE English for undergraduates too (Cal State East Bay, for example, takes CBSE Year 12 English at A2), so ask before you book a test.
