The other 55 universities in our data either set PTE by course or did not publish a score on the pages we read, so check the guide. Several accept PTE only at a test centre, not PTE Academic Online.

How we counted: each figure comes from our own guide to that university, which restates its admissions pages (read 4 to 9 October 2026). We took the lowest postgraduate PTE Academic overall each guide's tables give; where a table could not be read cleanly the university is left out of the count rather than guessed. The full list, with a CSV, is on our IELTS university requirements data. A course page can ask for more than the university minimum, so check yours before you book.

PTE for the UK Student visa

Your university's offer is what matters at degree level, because it can assess your English itself. If you need a Secure English Language Test, book PTE Academic UKVI, not PTE Academic: B2 is 59 in each skill (IELTS for a UK Student visa). In India both cost INR 18,900 (PTE fee in India).

Frequently asked questions

Which UK universities do not accept PTE?+

In our data, Cambridge, Bedfordshire and Bolton say they do not accept PTE Academic. Others accept it but not the online version.

What PTE score do UK universities need for a master's?+

59 is the most common minimum in our data (18 universities); research-led universities often ask 65 to 76.

Is PTE 59 enough for a UK master's?+

At 20 universities in our data, 59 or lower meets the minimum for at least some master's courses.

Do I need PTE Academic UKVI for a UK master's?+

Only if you need a Secure English Language Test, for example below degree level. At degree level your university may accept PTE Academic.
